I'd like a moment of your time to consider some issues I've been bumping into lately, the difference between the current clients available for OpenERP.
Some of you might not have bumped into serious issues when you are coding for either the web- or GTK client alone but there are actually quite a few differences in the implementation of these clients.
I've just recently addressed one such difference with OpenERP SA and would like to take this opportunity to show why exactly the community needs a fixed API specification.
In my ever-lasting endeavor to save money and find the best value for money I've stumbled upon a very fitting (and cheaper) dedicated server provider which I have already paid and the Nightwalkers Teamspeak (and Minecraft !) server has been running on this new server for the last 2 weeks with only 1 hitch : a fan apparently broke down and I was "rewarded" with a free replacement and a complementary time-limited ability to do a remote power-cycle. (Normally you'd have to pay a small fee to have this capability).
Good news everyone, the server's back online and serving it's ass off :)
Hope to see you guys sometime at ts3server://ts.nightwalkers.be
Just a little heads up, server deployment has been delayed till next week.
Darn those toot'n switches !
For those people who wandered here wondering why the teamspeak server is down, I'm currently upgrading my server. It should be back hopefully Wed 24 Nov 2010 around 10pm UTC.
I'd like a moment to thank the previous hoster, as they have provided a great service for me the last 1.5 years.
I would still recommend them if their packages suit your need : www.budgetdedicated.com
And for those interested, I'm moving to www.vibit.eu , using a "Vibit Light" server package.
After some light persuasion by a friend of mine, decided to buy this game, here's some of my first thoughts about the gamefeel and what could need attention.
It's been almost over a year since my last post, decided to do something about it even if it may not have much value for other people it should become a habit for me to update these pages.
First of all a bit of housekeeping: Got some users that tried to register here, forget it, registering is only for friends and people I trust.
Secondly, got a couple of comments whiched seem like valid comment only to insert some random URL, I let some of those comments stay up but edited it mercilessly if I didn't like the URL. Don't like that policy ? Though luck. It's not a democracy here :)
What a great start for April, another spam wave which faked my domain.
Apologies to anyone who thinks I've sent them spam but I didn't do it.
I saw some backscatter which drew my attention though. Some domains seem to be actually reading my SPF records but still actually allow delivery of this mail even though it came from outside the allowed senders I have defined in my SPF. Go figure, you go through all the hassle of setting up an SPF checker but don't actually use the results ?
It's almost here ... almost ... almost.
After a long and painful realization (playing Age of Conan) I decided to buy a new PC.
Got it even in the week I ordered all the parts.
Only to come to the realization the mainboard is ddr3 and the memory we had ordered was ddr2. Oopsie :)
So we went back, ordered the new ddr3 memory. Waiting time : 1 week.
So now my brand new 'shiny' pc is sitting there, all assembled, no memory.
Oh the pain and agony :)
But I still have my old pc I hear you say ?
So today I finally finished my first EVE Movie I created.
Check inside for more information.
It features me and Frodofrost completing this crazy mission called Enemies Abound (part 5 of 5).
The general idea is you have to destroy a stargate protected by some Minmatar/Gallente Navy. Now the nasty part is the gateway has tons of structure, it can take a pounding even without shield/armor.
